Losing 2 stones with the help of NLP
Weight loss is an intricate subject, here is an approach I used following the shock of seeing family Christmas photos:
Know your outcome
In all NLP we are encouraged to start with the end in mind i.e. know your outcome. Know what it is that you are setting out to achieve over a set period of time. In my case I knew that it was about me being two stone lighter at the end of four months!
Use your senses with precision
Next, it’s important to create a compelling picture of the outcome you desire to see yourself being two stone lighter. Listen to what it is that you’ll say to yourself knowing that you’re lighter, quicker and more vibrant. Hear what it is that people are saying to you, notice what it’s like as you enjoy hearing positive comments about yourself. Now getting to the feelings, how good does it really feel to have created this new you.
Add extra motivation
If you’re motivated as I am by having all the people involved then one good approach is to tell as many people as possible what it is that you’re intending to do. This way people will continually ask you and comment on how well or not so well you’re doing on a weekly basis.
I decided to take this one step further by agreeing to bet for the biggest loser of £2000 with a good friend of mine over the four month period.
For those of you who enjoyed extra mean motivation then you can either combine both of these ideas or even think of new ingenious ways to take your motivation levels upwards.
Appointing two models of excellence
The next step for me was to recognise that I needed extra support in 2 key areas.
1. I appointed Adam Thwaites –
a health and fitness expert to train me over the days, weeks and months.
I met with him on average three times a week to get him to put me through my paces
and give me feedback on my progress.
This is a constant reminder of life’s little message that you only get out what you put in.
2. I appointed Linda Stott – a food and nutrition expert to help me plan my daily meals and ensure that I got the nutrition required whilst training on such a regular basis. For me the surprise significant ingredient was much much more protein intake on a daily basis. This was done primarily by making protein shakes and using them as meal replacements twice a day.
The pay-off
I am two stones lighter, have increasing energy, am significantly fitter, much much faster and as a result of winning the bet – £2000 richer. Last week I decided to buy myself a new wardrobe.
So with a little planning while increasing your motivation, my question to you is “what can you choose to achieve right now?”
