NLP Techniques

NLP techniques have been gifted to the World by the individuals who had the desire and curiosity to understand more about the patterns that make for excellence inside of human behaviour.

Whenever I teach the techniques of NLP there is a buzz and excitement as individuals learn new and resourceful ways to approach their life circumstances.

NLP techniques have been taken from models of excellence in each and every field of human endeavour including business and therapy.

New and long term NLPers will hopefully find that my insights and applications of NLP techniques are limitless.

You can use my NLP techniques section to:

1. Simply improve your NLP

Learn the difference that makes the difference when using NLP at work. Improve the results you achieve for yourself and when working with others using NLP techniques.

2. Create new NLP pattern

Over and over we see new content being added to the same structure. It is given a new name and voila you have a new pattern!!

You can do the same and even have it published in one or more of the many NLP websites and publications.

3. Design new trainings, presentations and products

Once you know the formulae for any NLP technique you can apply it to designing your training, presentations and product development.

4. Structure linguistic interventions

Whilst working with clients using language allow this pattern to be a structural guide and your results will be even more amazing. You will begin to automatically generate language patterns that change, hearts, minds and habits.

The Ultimate NLP Pattern:

Every NLP technique comes from this pattern:

1. Associated to the Present State

2. Dissociate from present state

3. Associate to resources

4. Associate resources to present state

5. Future pace

That’s right! Every pattern I have ever studied is covered inside of this highly generalised and very useful model.

1. Associated to the Present State:

Start by getting the person in touch with the contextual markers that they want to change. This will light up the neural networks associated with the problem. It is vital that you can anchor this state so that later (in step 4) connecting the resources is easy.

In Business – What does the customer need?

In Training – Pacing the audience and building a strong WHY frame

In Coaching – Accessing the problem state or present state

2. Dissociate from present state:

Distracting the client from the present state allows you to open up other neurological possibilities. This is important prior to eliciting the clients outcome state.

In Business – Break rapport and leading towards the solution.

In Training – Presenting initial frames and training content.

In Coaching – Breaking rapport and leading towards outcome.

3. Associate to resources:

This stage includes any technique that connects a client with the neurological resources required to resolve or collapse the present state. Thinking in terms of the opposite to the original presenting problem or issue can be useful and help simplify accessing solutions.

In Business – Making your proposal and agreeing its value.

In Training – Transformational teaching of new models of the World.

In Coaching – Accessing the resources including states & hidden talents.

4. Associate resources to present state:

Time to make the change and allow the new neurological connections to integrate into the nervous system. Introducing the resources to the present state collapses the boundaries of the old problem and a new higher order is established in the nervous system is established. People often report an increase in energy, easier access to information, a flow state and enduring state of being.

In Business – Closing the sale.

In Training – Facilitating the significant emotional experience that answers the why of the training.

In Coaching – Collapsing the boundaries of the problem.

5. Future pace:

Often this step is not separated out because it is seen as a repeat of step 4 despite being very explicitly marked out in the Swish and Six-step reframe.

This is the clients’ chance of a dress rehearsal prior to enjoying the benefits of the change in their outside World. Repetition of the now successful pattern helps to reinforce the neurological pathways and stabilise the new solution.

In Business – More positive associations that the right decision was made.

In Training – Transferring the positive results to contexts beyond the training.

In Coaching – Layering the benefits into the presenting contexts.

Summary:

Following the 5 steps (model of excellence) above is a formula that will generate exceptional results in all areas of your life. Take the time to learn the steps, use the pattern and then enjoy the results that you and your clients are creating.

I first came across this model while working with my great friends and teachers at Neuro-Energetics. The titles they like to give it:

• The Meta Pattern of all traditional NLP patterns!

• The Mother of All Patterns!

I’m keen to hear from you, the results, the benefits, your comments and contributions on this or any topic NLP so stay in touch. In the meantime simple be excellence and enjoy your own models of excellence expending in new ways.
